DECORATE DOWNTOWN FOR THE GUADALUPE COUNTY FAIR PARADE
The Seguin Main Street Program and the Guadalupe County Fair Association is sponsoring the annual a Scarecrow Decorating Contest. The contest is open to all individuals, businesses, clubs and organizations doing business in and around Seguin. Contestants are encouraged to set up their displays in downtown Seguin, to decorate downtown for the annual Guadalupe County Fair Parade. Scarecrows can be placed outside in front of a business or displayed in a business window but must be visible from the sidewalk. Clubs or organizations wishing to sponsor a Scarecrow display will be provided a downtown location.
All scarecrows entered in the contest will be judged.
Scarecrows will be judged on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Certificates for first, second and third place winners will be awarded.
The application is available on the City of Seguin website at www.seguintexas.gov under Main Street Program department. For more information leave a message on the Seguin Main Street Program events phone line at 830-401-5000.
CONTEST RULES:
- Any business, individual, club or organization doing business in or around Seguin can enter.
- Downtown Seguin is the preferred location for scarecrow displays in order to decorate for the Fair Parade. The Main Street Program can help locate downtown windows for scarecrow displays.
- Submit the entry form online, fill out and return the entry form or go to the City of Seguin web site at www.seguintexas.gov and download an application from the Main Street Program department.
- Scarecrows can be anything "family-friendly" that you come up with. Scarecrows must be visible from the sidewalk without going inside.
- Judging will be Tuesday, October 4. Certificates will be awarded to the best three entrees. Have your display up by October 3!
