MEMBERSHIP RULES & GUIDELINES

Definition of a Guadalupe Agricultural Livestock & Fair Association (GALFA) Member:

One who expresses a desire to assist the Guadalupe Agricultural Livestock & Fair Association in its' activities by providing necessary help to complete its' projects.

Rules & Guidelines:

  1. Applicants may be required by means of Board of Director recruitment, newspaper or radio advertising, or by any other means necessary.
  2. Applicants complete an application for membership, which will be reviewed by the membership committee, and if necessary, be called for an interview.
  3. Membership shall be open to persons 18 years of age or older, and who reside in Guadalupe County, Texas, or the adjacent surrounding counties.
  4. Upon acceptance as a member, each member shall pay a one-time membership fee of $15.00, and annual dues of $10.00. Each member shall be required to provide a minimum of Thirty (30) hours of assistance to the Association during each membership year. A minimum of ten (10) hours must be completed during the annual county fair, and a minimum of twenty (20) hours must be completed excluding the fair. The membership year shall coincide with the fiscal year of the Association, which shall begin on the first day of January, and end on the last day of December each year.
  5. The term of membership shall be for a period of one year. Re-application for membership shall be automatic for a period of one year, and voted on by the Board of Directors with recommendation from the membership committee.
  6. Each member shall be entitled to one (1) vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the General Membership as provided by the bylaws. An annual meeting of the members shall be held on the second Tuesday of November each year for the purpose of electing Directors.
  7. Whereas activities of the Association take place throughout the year, all members must display a concerted effort to participate in those activities throughout the year.
  8. To be a member of the Fair Association and to be nominated for directors or officer positions, committee members must have active participating hours on all committees on which they serve.
  9. Directors and members are a reflection of the Board and must conduct themselves appropriately. As a member of the Association, your actions, words and conduct should reflect positively on the Association and the community it serves. Any abusive or inappropriate conduct can and will be reviewed by the directors of the Association and appropriate actions will be taken, including but not limited to removal from the Association.
  10. Any chairman or co-chairman cannot compete in the event they are chairing.
