All or any entries in the Home Arts Division will be accepted on a merit basis, and also if accepted, must remain in the Exhibit Hall until Sunday, October 10. Articles must be picked up October 10 between the hours of 4 & 6 p.m. There will be no exceptions. Each exhibitor in the Home Arts Division will receive one (1) free Exhibitor's pass.
GENERAL RULES - HOME ARTS
- All exhibits made by those of school age and under will be entered in the Children's Division, divided into four (4) groups: Pre-school, Elementary, Junior High and High School. The same general rules will apply to all divisions except where otherwise specified.
- All items, with exception of antiques, must be made by exhibitor.
- All entries, with the exception of cut flowers, must be in the Exhibition Hall between 2-8p.m. Wednesday, October 6. All cut flowers and arrangements must be in the Coliseum by 9 a.m. Thursday, October 7.
- The Guadalupe Agriculture and Livestock Fair will exercise due care of all exhibits, but in no case will it be responsible for loss or damage.
- Articles which are soiled or unfit for exhibition will not be accepted.
- All articles exhibited must be completely finished.
- No article may be entered in more than one department.
- All arrangements of exhibits shall be under the control of the chairman of the department, and no one will be allowed to remove them until the exhibition is closed. They will then be returned upon presentation of duplicate entry tag. Items must be picked up Sunday, October 10, between 4 and 6 p.m. All items not picked up will be disposed of at the discretion of the chairman.
- Canned foods must be in standard jars such as Kerr, Ball or Mason, with matching lids. Rusted or dented lids and rings are not accepted. Jars must be properly sealed and cleaned. One special award per exhibitor. See page 25 for specific canning and preserving rules.
- Items will be judged following regulations provided by Jarden Home Brands and the USDA Guide to Home Canning. See BALL® Jar Awards page. Judges' decisions are final.
- Items entered last year will not be accepted.
- Winners of 2008 special prizes will not be eligible for the same prizes.
Special Prizes for Most Entries in Home Arts
GUADALUPE VALLEY ELECTRIC CO-OP is offering 2 MICROWAVES as prizes to two people (any age) who have the most entries in the Home Arts Division. You must enter items in at least two departments of the Home Arts Division. There will be first and second place winners. Past winners do not qualify.
